Kalinga University hosted ‘FIRST-STEP-2021,' a spectacular induction for students of MCA, session 2021-22 on Thursday, September 28, 2021. A gracious welcome ceremony was organised on a virtual platform at the onset of new academic session for newly admitted students of MCA program. The students were delighted by the warm welcome they received and immediately felt at home. Following that, they were given a presentation regarding Kalinga University’s academic, co-curricular, and extra-curricular activities, as well as its formation in Chhattisgarh as one of the foremost private universities in Central India.
After a ceremonial welcome, the newcomers were taken for a journey of Kalinga University through a short film that provided an insight into life at Kalinga University, both within and outside the classroom. Dr. R. Shridhar, Vice-Chancellor of the University, Dr. Byju John, Registrar, Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Dean Student Welfare, Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Dean Academic Affairs, Mr. Rahul Mishra, Deans and Heads of various Departments, and other faculty members attended the ceremony. The special Guest of Honour was Mr. Kunal Singh, Manager- Mindtree and Expert in Cyber Security. The session began with seeking the blessings of Sarasvati Vandana, the Goddess of Wisdom that was followed by a cordial greeting by the masters of the ceremony, Mr. Kapil Kelkar and Ms. Shreya Dwivedi. On that note, Ms. Vassavi, a B.Sc. student at the university, performed a welcome dance.
Dr. Sandeep Gandhi, Registrar of the University, delivered a welcome message and briefed the students about the university's regulatory status, awards, and honours received during its journey to this point. He constantly alluded to the accomplishments of university students and encouraged them on education-ethos in his inspirational approach. He counselled the new team on when and how to apply exceptional judgement and actions. He ended his address by encouraging students to be active members of the University, displaying their abilities across all platforms.
Dr. R Shridhar, Vice-Chancellor of the University, delivered a motivating speech after the Registrar's welcoming address.Dr. Shridhar discussed a variety of options for furthering their education. He was obdurate about using the university's structure for developing talent and knowledge through hands-on training and a comprehensive curriculum. He inspired them by emphasising the importance of both academic and professional qualities in achieving the ultimate goal of success. The address of the Vice-Chancellor was followed by a virtual Fashion Show put on by the students of Kalinga University. Following the performance, Dr. Byju John, Director General of Kalinga University, enlightened and blessed the new members of the Kalinga family.
Following the Director General's speech, Mr. Kunal Singh made an enthusiastic and uplifting speech. He asked the students to give their best in all their performances. This potential benefits people's experiences and knowledge, which they must rely on in order to progress and advance. He stressed the importance of overcoming fear of failure and understanding brain mechanics in order to achieve optimal growth. He gave important tips on how to face challenges in career and in everyday life by quoting examples of Swami Vivekananda’s experiences.
The address of the chief guest was followed by a Pictionary game and a presentation by Mr. Kapil Kelkar and Shreya Dwivedi in which the students were introduced to the Deans and Heads of various Departments. Mr. Omprakash Dewangan then coordinated an enthusiastic dance performance of university students, Ritik and Group that was the next highlight of the event.
The students were then addressed by Mr. Suwanvesh Rath, Incharge Head of the Faculty of Information Technology. He emphasized that Kalinga University's IT infrastructure including its digital library with a wide range of books, modern classrooms for flipped teaching methods, and mixed approaches, facilitates the students to achieve their dreams. Mr. Rath discusses the importance of punctuality and fearlessness, as well as how qualified and experienced faculty members can assist students in creating an integrated environment for a better understanding of basic life principles and how students can improve their professional and technical expertise through ongoing mentoring. IT is one of the most important career tracks for developing professionals and Kalinga University supplements this by offering a diverse range of opportunities, and students can participate in a variety of activities both inside and outside of the University.
Following the discourse, International students of the University presented a fantastic dance performance. Mr. Rahul Mishra, Dean Academic Affairs, assured each student of their value and capacity to provide something new and exciting to their diverse learning community. He finished his speech by offering general advice on how to make the most of their time at Kalinga University. Ms. Anjali Swamy coordinated the quizzes, reasonings, and riddles, which was followed by an interaction with Ms. Urshita Baranwal, the University coordinator. Following that, students from Kalinga University performed a Chhattisgarh traditional dance that was coordinated by Mr. Omprakash Dewangan.
An online talent round was organised by Mr. Kapil Kelkar and Ms. Shreya Dwivedi organized for the newly admitted students. Dr. Asha Ambhaikar, Dean of Student Welfare, presented a vote of thanks at the end of the Induction Program, which was followed by a group photo and student feedback. The program was effectively conducted by Mr. Kapil Kelkar and Ms. Shreya Dwivedi. Mr. Omprakash Dewangan and Mr. Toshan Tarak were a constant back support throughout the event. The students showed genuine admiration for Kalinga University and were enthusiastic for a new beginning.
